Sunday: Cheltenham to Winchcombe.
Monday: Winchcombe to Broadway.
First up - load up on snackies and a packed lunch for the road.
Kim found a kindred spirit in her garden - they coulda talked all day.
The final descent into Broadway.
We’re 2 nights in the Lygon Arms in Broadway and it’s superb.
The Lygon Arms hotel. Very fancy, verging on hoity-toity which was a goal.
Tuesday: Broadway to Chipping Campden.
First off the big uphill to Broadway Tower (designed by Lancelot “Capability” Brown who had the best name ever).
The walk today ended in Chipping Campden which is lovely - a busy narrow high street with shops, hotels & pubs.
Next up is a visit to Hidcote Garden which is part of the National Trust and it’s pretty amazing. Kim was in her happy place.
A 10 minute walk down the road leads to Kiftsgate Court Gardens. Quite different than Hidcote, but “charming in its lack of professionalism” says Kim.
Wednesday: Chipping Camden to Moreton-in-Marsh.
We decided to eschew the walk today in favour of the bus, as we wanted to spend a full day in town and shop, flake out, eat a ploughman’s, and check into our digs early.
We’re staying at the White Hart Royal Hotel and it’s off the charts fancy.
The room is swish, but best part is the private garden to chill all afternoon. It’s a short walk to the bar to pick up the next drink.
Excellent bathtub - all mod cons in a place that dates back earlier than 1644. Tomorrow we’re off to London, reluctantly leaving the Cotswolds, but the Chelsea Flower Show waits for nobody, not even Monty Don.
Thursday: Moreton-in-Marsh to London.
Took off to Camden Market today for some retail therapy.
We’re 3 nights at the Black Lion pub - a restored pub with rooms upstairs and it’s pretty swish.
Friday: Chelsea Flower Show.
OMFG.
Saturday: an unbridled spree in London. Bookstore, National Portrait Gallery, bookstore, clothing store, bookstore, pub, bookstore, high end clothing store, dinner. Watch Gardener’s World and go to bed. No pics.
Sunday: home.
